Yippee!!! It's Fall!!!

The most wonderful time of the year...wait. You might think that is winter/Christmas. While you would be right that is a very special time of year, that I do dearly love, my heart is in the season of Autumn. I love everything about, I mean every single thing...the smells, the tastes, the weather, football, the yumminess, the colors, leaves changing colors, leaves burning...I could go on and on.

In celebration of the true beginning of this wonderful season, there will be some baking in the DeWeil house this weekend. Somehow Scott, my dear husband, convinced me to wait until the true beginning of fall to make Pumpkin Pie in a Mug. You might remember that I shared the recipe here. I showed the picture and recipe to my sister, Ashley, one day and she told me I should have included a picture in that post because it looked way better than it sounded in the recipe. Well, here's the closest I could get, as I couldn't find the actual thing.
(Looks very similar to the picture I want to share. This is actually Pumpkin Spice Cappuccino--check THIS out for more yummy pumpkin/chocolate drink recipes)

Not only will be having Pumpkin Pie in a Mug, but we will have the real thing. Yes, ladies and gentleman. I will be baking my first ever pumpkin pie. No worries. I have a trusty DeWeil family recipe to go by. Scott's mom compiled a book of favorite family recipes and gave it to all the kids for Christmas a few years ago. There are 2 pumpkin pie recipes inside. I am going with the second one listed, that was said to be another favorite. I figure, if it made it into the book it has to be good.
I wanted to share it with you here. Thanks to Carolyn DeWeil for the awesome recipe book and the yummy goodness we will consume this weekend. :)

Creamy Pumpkin Pie
1-9" unbaked deep dish pie shell
1-16 oz can pumpkin (2 cups)
1-14 oz can Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk
2 eggs
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ginger
1/2 tsp nutmeg
Whip cream and nuts to garnish

Preheat oven to 425. In large bowl, combine filling ingredients mixing well. Pour into shell and bake 15 minutes then reduce temperature to 350 and bake for 25-30 minutes. Let cool before cutting.

With candles lit, Brach's candy pumpkins on hand, let the tastes and smells of fall fill the air! Happy Autumn!

I Need Your Help!!

Hey everyone!!!

I need your help. I love to cook but am not very creative. I have cookbooks and try to use them, but not knowing how yummy the end result will be can sometimes stifle my cooking creativity. This is where you come in. How about we do a RECIPE SWAP/SHARE on here??!!

Yeah? You in?!

Here's how it will work. I am going to post a recipe that I have tried and is a favorite. (I might even share 2) :)
Then you add a comment on here with a recipe or recipe link that you love.
If we all do this, we will have lots of yummy recipes to try with our families. We will know they are good because we will all have tried them out at home.
Everyone wins!

So, how 'bout it? Please don't leave me hanging on this post. :)

Mushroom Chicken (don't let the word mushroom scare you, it is good--promise!)
To keep this post short and sweet, and to aide in your ability to print out this recipe to enjoy with your family, I am posting the link. So HERE it is!
I would love to hear your thoughts after cooking. It is my husbands #1 choice for dinner, always.
We like to serve this with brown rice and some veggies.

Here is another family favorite: Peanut Butter Pork Chops
I know it sounds crazy, but as long as you have no peanut allergies in your home, you all will love this recipe!
We tried this with the girls and they even loved it! Give it a whirl. A yummy way to change up pork chops.
We like to serve this up with mashed potatoes and a green veggie of choice.

Can't wait to hear from you! :)
