Recess

Our youngest, Sienna, started Kindergarten two weeks ago. Last week, I had the privilege of picking her up from school. Each day I would pick her up, I would ask 2 questions once she was all buckled in and ready to ride. "Did you have a good day today, Sienna?" "Yes ma'am!" (We are trying very hard to make sure our "manners button" is flipped on all the time. She is doing a fabulous job with this!) Then I would ask, "What was your most favorite thing you did today? Anything fun happen at school?" She would think for just a moment, with a "hmmm" sound from the back seat and then a face that lit up, she replied, "When we went outside. That was the most fun!"

Now, I need to tell you that our sweet little girl is NEVER lacking for expression! She is so full of creativity, energy, and passion for life. She can tell a story and have you in stitches by just watching her expressions. Or she can melt your heart with her random hugs and sweet words of affirmation for you. She and her sister share a tender heart for others and a gentle and kind spirit. We are truly thankful for our amazing girls!

Ok...back to the story. Sienna would then go on to explain the shenanigans that took place at recess. From her inventing a game called Girls Got Talent--think America's Got Talent, performed by all girls, with judges and everything! Walking me through, singing, and demonstrating the "talent" was quite the entertainment for the whole family.

And then there's the boys. Oh me! One day, she shared that she didn't play Girls Got Talent, but, rather, all the boys chased her all of recess. I had a sneaky feeling that she may have instigated this chase, so I started probing how it all got started. Sure enough, she admitted that she ran up to them and told them all to chase her. Oh dear! Of course, her daddy wanted to know, "Did you out run all those boys because you are so super fast?" "Well, yes, sir, all but one. He beat me." So now I'm sure a chase will happen this week, or maybe a race. Because another thing we are working really hard on is being a gracious loser--at games, sports, and races.

I wonder what this week will hold? Lots of smiles and laughter I am sure!

**A busy first week of school!! Sienna had a crazy busy first week of school. She started a new class at church, which she loved! She started Kindergarten, with no tears but all excitement the first day. She got two crowns on baby teeth, or "Princess Teeth" as we call them. AND she learned to ride her bike without traning wheels and NO help needed! Woohoo for a GREAT first week of school!
